If you sum up all the numbers from 1 – 22 using the formula: n * (n 1) / 2 = Sum, n

22 * (22 1) / 2 = 253  = ( 1 2 3 4 ...... 22 )

Alef  is composed of 1,12,17, this equals to 1*12*17 = 204.

This is the same value than that of the middle column counting all the numbers downwards.  ( 12 10 13 12 5 6 ....... 10 6 ) = 204

We see on the left column that the sum of all the values downwards equals to 253 as well.  ( 17 22 12 22.. 14 22...... 17 21 14 ) = 253
